Grades 1, 2 & 3
Young Authors Fair - This annual event in June is a combination of a love of books and
children's imagination. Children will learn and use the writing process
to
write and illustrate their own hardback bound books. The Young
Author's Fair is the culmination of their hard work. Gathering in
groups of 10 - 12, multi-age children are led by a parent volunteer.
Each child author is given an opportunity to read aloud and share their
creation with the other children as well as with invited family and
friends. First Grade

On Pioneer Day our fourth graders will experience the lives of gold miners. Our costumed and hardy pioneers will pan for gold in frigid waters, pump their own water, knead dough for bread, play with pioneer toys, and sing songs around a campfire. After a spirited session of square dancing, the pioneers will cap their day with a satisfying meal of "sowbelly and beans" and quench their thirst with sarsaparilla. Join us for this exciting event. Fifth Grade Ben Franklin Visit - Our fifth graders will go back to Colonial times to experience a lecture and demonstrations from the elder statesman himself and will learn about the early printing press from a Colonial printer. Science Expo - Each fifth grade student will be sharing their own scientific investigation and experience with all of their classmates and visitors. CIMI Camp - The fifth grade class will spend three glorious days (May 9 - 11, 2009) on Catalina Island at science camp.
