Education is a family business at Balboa Gifted Magnet. Parents partner regularly with Balboa’s staff to provide support in the classroom, assist teachers in preparation, and to work one-on-one with students in need.  Because of the enormous support of Balboa’s parent community, the PTA and Spirit Club are able to fund field trips, art programs, computers, and other special events for the school. Balboa teachers are able to devote themselves to their teaching, because parents provide extra hands in the work of running Balboa’s classrooms.

The Balboa Magnet PTA consistently supports school projects and curriculum through fundraising. The PTA involves everyone including community businesses, in their activities such as the Spell-a-thon, Mardis Gras Math Night, Sports Night, Founder's Day, Reflections, Character Counts, Scholastic Book Fair, and Holiday Outreach. The PTA also sponsors Host Families for new parents and a Fall Picnic to provide new and continuing families an opportunity to meet and begin friendships.

Balboa's Spirit Club

Balboa Magnet's Booster Club is called the Spirit Club. It raises money for projects big and small that contribute to an enriched, stimulating school environment. They pay for our physical education coach, extra teacher assistants, equipment, and supplies that allow our students to be creative and enter the world of hands on explorations. The Spirit Club hosts Balboa’s annual Festival of the Arts.
