Music Appreciation Returns to Balboa

Monday, March 26, 2007

During the week of March 19-23 Balboa’s campus enjoyed Music Appreciation II.  The music of The Beatles, Bob Marley, Elvis, U2, and a wide variety of famous female singers was played for the students to enjoy.  The campus was decorated daily with posters highlighting the artists of the day with accompanying playlists of the songs that were played.  A new added feature to this program was lectures during the recess breaks.  Parent volunteers shared important information of each day’s artist.  These speakers brought books, videos, and photos to teach our students about the music.  Our five speakers were Matt Levy (The Beatles), Ed. Jackiewicz (Bob Marley), Marcy Booth (Famous Female Vocalists), Dan Rosen (Elvis, pictured above), and Sandie Minasian (U2).  As you can see in the pictures above, many students were more than willing to give up their recess break to appreciate some good music.

Special thanks to Jill Rosen, Sharon Levy, Stacey Gordon, and April Blair.  These parents were instrumental in the planning and implementation of this event.
